Welcome to the homepage of our encyclopedia! We’re
interested in recruiting authors to write entries for us, and encourage
prospective contributors to send along a CV (indicating, in particular, your
writing experience), as well as specific entry requests, to the email address
listed below.
Our encyclopedia is intended
as a guide to bestselling contemporary fiction, covering those authors and
works typically neglected by more “literary” guides. We include entries on authors
whose work has reached, or consistently come very close to, the annual “top 10”
list of bestsellers during roughly the past 25 years (1980 to the present), along with entries on a representative selection
of individual works which have reached “top 10” bestseller status in a
particular year during this period. Some works from the 1970s which have
enjoyed continuing popularity since their initial publication (such as Zen
and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance and Fear of Flying) have also
been included. Works typically categorized as "literary" rather than
"popular" have been excluded.
Contributors
to our encyclopedia will receive a byline in the finished book, identifying
them as the author of their entry. In certain cases, those authors contributing
multiple entries will receive a complimentary copy of the encyclopedia upon its
publication.
